Large format

Trying to use my Graflex Crown Graphic more. I've got a bunch of film that I haven't been using. Developed with Cinestill Monobath, which I think led to the weird smokiness in the background. Click on the image to open an obnoxiously large version of it but maybe don't bother.

Been a while.

I've been wanting to use this more but I'm sorta unhappy with how my site is set up. I'm getting stuck in a cycle of inspiration, perfectionism, and frustration.
Which, if I'm being honest, describes most of my life.

Anyway, I've mostly been shooting digital lately. I finally got around to replacing my Nikon Df that was stolen from my car last summer with a Fuji XH-1. Recently went to Washington, D.C to attend something called Magfest, which is like a convention for video game music. My partner has gone to it a bunch and is "in the scene" as the kids say. I didn't take a lot of pics at the con itself because I prefer candid shots and I've heard that conventional convention etiquitte is to ask to take pics.

Trying to get back into film, though. I'm starting to mess around with Caffenol developer but my results so far haven't been very good. Two empty rolls so far. I did develop some rolls with the Cinestill monobath to just get back in the swing of things. These are from a Olympus Pen F, a half frame camera. The whole diptych thing has seemed interesting to me for a while but I'm finding it harder to make my own than I expected.

Also, I tried to make my photography pages less obnoxious by adding a "lazy" tag to the photos so they only load when you scroll to them. Hopefully that helps?

Just some slice-of-life stuff

Bothered by the magenta in this, I think it's a scanning artifact but I haven't taken the time to figure it out.

Pre-steaked grill

Got cabin 9 on my birthday for a third time. It's like a second home now.

Look at this little idiot, didn't even know how to use utensils.

He's BFFs with my friend ever since she gave birth to him so I guess he alright.

Bronco Henryetta show

Not sure how I feel about these. I wish they were a little clearer, I guess. Wondering if I should stick to digital for concert photography. I was going to send them to the band but I don't know that they'd actually want them. Maybe I'm just being a little too critical. They also all have some gunk on them from my developing, which I think is the photo-flo. I considered dunking them into water to remove it but I didn't like them enough to mess with them any more. I think I'm also just depressed and nothing I do feels good enough. Should probably go ahead and get back on my meds but *shrug*.

Distractions, etc

Haven't been taking a lot of pics lately. Well, that's sort of a lie. Not a lot of pics I felt like sharing, either the quality hasn't felt up to snuff or they felt a little too personal to put here. I'm in dire need of distractions from a Someone so I'm planning on throwing myself back into it. Set up some fresh B&W chems last night and developed an old-ish roll from the racetrack.

Trying to decide what to do with the photos of a personal nature I mentioned earlier. They aren't noodies (aside from the occasional butt pic I guesss). They are just candid photos meant only for my own appreciation. My best idea is to quaratine them on a flashdrive somewhere. Deleting them feels wrong. I'm far too sentimental for that. Right now they're scattered around like my photos tend to be. Scanning these in last night didn't really do much for distracting me as their face (or butt..) would randomly pop up in this folder or that. *Mental note to get better at organization.* Frankly I'm still not 100% sure about where this person will fit into my life. But that's for the Hidden Sad Girl Website I made. Maybe someday I'll link to it, in the spirit of keeping this place an honest expression of self.

Hopefully I'll have some more photos to share very soon. I took a bunch over the weekend of a local band I really like.

Getting a little more serious

I've been thinking I need to really up my development game. I kinda just chuck chemicals in, wait around 10 minutes and take a look. But now I wanna really make it into a science. I got what basically amounts to a sous vid for film and set to it. This is my first roll of what Real Developing.

Enjoyed the ease in which I got shots of people here at the dam. Didn't feel too conspicuous to point my camera around.

For those not from my area, this whale is actually a local landmark situated along Route 66.

I sorta just liked the simplicitity of it. The grain makes the sky look interesting but I sorta wish it was lighter.

Scissor-Tail Fly Catchers are the best.

And, last but not least:

found a thing

Found a bellows mount for my cameras at a weird local antique shop. Both are fuji xt1 with honeywell pentax bellows and jupiter 200

had a roll from my mamiya that I didn't like and my dad sent me this edit from it.

i dig it

In a funk

Been in a funk lately with photography. I keep looking at stuff I take and just feeling really meh about it. But I got these over the weekend and I actually feel kind of good about them..

Anna's First Time

My dad and I found a pair of Mamiya C330s for cheap at a local pawn shop. The pawn shop happened to be undereath an opera house that was frequented in the 30s. If anyone happens to read "Killers of the Flower Moon" or watch the Scorsese movie in the coming future, it was one of the last places that Anna was ever scene. I named my Mamiya "Anna" as a paltry tribute. Here are the first scans I've made from shots from her. I'm really enjoying medium format so far. I had an RB67 years ago that was stolen from me before I could get any results so there is real catharsis in finally getting real medium format shots.

Camera Death Touch

Tried developing 5 rolls from the Pentax, all blank. I'm feeling cursed. I've killed and lost so many cameras. I did get a Yashica Electro 35 in. It wasn't working...till it was. Here are some pics from it. I'm pretty happy with it, even if I can't control the shutter speed.

Really need to work on my method and kit for developing.

I FINALLY DID IT

I DEVELOPED AND SCANNED FILM. SO EXCITEDDDDDDD. I didn't do a very good good job with the actual developing but it led some decent photos.
