Pawhuska

Out in Pawhuska for the afternoon with family. All taken with Rollei 35 S with HP5 and a red filter.

Drumwright and Oilton

We were just cruising around some of the small towns in our area and these came from that. There's indications that these used to be thriving towns, fed by their oil industry, but now they're falling in on themselves. So many of these old Oklahoma towns are filled with amazing buildings that will eventually just become rubble
I have a personal rule for black and white digital photographs that I had to intend the shot to be monochrome when I took it. Otherwise it feels like I'm trying to make an otherwise uninteresting picture "artsy."

Grayhorse Cemetery and School

Grey Horse is a cemetery kept by the Osage Nation here in Oklahoma. There's a lot of sad history here. The Osage were killed off by people outside the tribe for the headrights, which were very lucrative due to the oil. Many of the murders went unprosecuted or the killers simply let off. Rot in Hell, Nathan Hale! Due to a Scorcese movie coming out soon, 'Killers of the Flower Moon' which cover the murders, this place has become a point of local interest. This has lead to increased vandalism of the graves. Because of course it did. Bastards. Many of the graves had these gorgeous cameos of the deceased which some chucklefucks have used as target practice. They have put up a fence aroung the place now and I think it is far harder to get into now, thankfully.
On our way out, we happened to see the Grayhorse School, an elementary school built in 1939 for Pawhuska's native population. It's now falling in on itself and used as a place to discard rubbish. There were a lot of toys and appliances dating back to the 1970s and a couple mostly destroyed motorcyles.

Lawton, OK - Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge

With the website update, I wanted to give some background on the photos I had already uploaded but that was preventing me from posting them.
